The 8 Mesh (or 1/8" x 1/8" Squares) hardware cloth is a useful and attractively priced galvanized woven wire mesh for customer who need a relatively small opening size, compared to the 2 Mesh and 4 Mesh. Because Darby’s 8 Mesh galvanized hardware cloth has a clear opening size of .101", it is commonly used in sifting or screening applications.
It can also be used as reinforcing screen and in soffit and venting applications, as well as to guard against pests and other nuisances. Also, this particular hardware cloth is first woven, and then it is galvanized. The galvanizing, in this specification, acts like as a bonding agent that keeps wires from shifting and moving dramatically. Because of UPS Ground weight and size limitation, some rolls are unable to ship via UPS and must ship via LTL/Motor Freight Carrier.

Due to the complexities in the galvanizing process, wires may not be perfectly straight; while straightness may impact the appearance of the mesh, it should not impact its functionality. If "straight-ness" is a major concern, we recommend looking at another type of wire mesh, like stainless steel.
