Wire mesh is often used in aviaries or as a screen to keep pet birds safe and to protect against pests and predators. Customers often find stainless steel, aluminum and galvanized mesh suitable for this type of application.

T-304 stainless steel - in particular, T-304 stainless steel welded specifications - is often specified for aviary use because it offers excellent corrosion resistance and a long life cycle when properly cared for. Additionally, it is characterized as more consistent and clean than a comparable galvanized mesh. T-316 stainless steel is sometimes requested in marine and salt-water applications.

Aside from selecting the appropriate material, determining the suitable mesh opening size and diameter wire is critical. It is important to keep in mind the size and temperament of the bird and/or pest.
